april
in honor of national poetry month
I missed the bloom this month
and walks in the park
and gatherings and due dates
and other things I promised myself
my phone tried consoling me
offered last year’s cherry blossoms
4 year old skies and 6 year old tulip beds
spring memories
but really it warned me:
you’re living in a loop
you are too predictable
you may never change
I waited for omens
prayed for April showers
anything to prove something was worth waiting for
shrill air bickered with the sun
tears flooded my stoop
coins ran dry
Today I ran toward grey waters
damp petals pressed underfoot
this April felt different
maybe that’s good

This was beautiful. I loved how the poem captures the quiet guilt of feeling like life is passing by, only to end with a small but hopeful shift. That final line, "maybe that's good," feels understated yet quietly powerful.
